About the Recipes

April 2010:
My plan is to post recipes as the season goes along, focusing on fresh produce that can be grown in my garden, zone 6 gardens, or locally. I'm only including recipes where the majority of ingredients are in season at the same time.  Hopefully that will eliminate the need to run to the grocery store for that one missing ingredient! I will make exceptions from time to time, but the goal is to stay local and seasonal.  The goal is also to select recipes that are as healthy as they are yummy.  There are a number of seasonal cookbooks on the market, but many aren't particularly healthy.  Hopefully that won't be the case with these recipes.

You'll notice that the recipes are organized by the particular vegetable/fruit. So, if you have fresh spinach in the fridge that you need to use, simply scroll down below the produce pictures and click on the spinach label on the right hand side  - it will bring up all the spinach recipes. It's been a great way to keep track of what I cook as seasons unfold, a helpful spot to log the recipes I want to use throughout the year, and keeps me accountable on my eating/cooking.  Hope you find it motivating and useful as well!

Update, January 1, 2011
Since I have a lot of good produce recipes that I didn't make in 2010, I decided to go back and post them under the date of January 1, 2010.  If I do make them in the future, I'll move that entry to the current date and add a picture if possible.  Enjoy!

Spring, 2011
I'm going to continue to post recipes this year - I have lots more I want to try!
